Elfin Thyme, or "Thymus praecox," is one of the shortest flowering herbs used as a groundcover. Their trailing habit makes them perfect for garden beds, borders, between pavers, and in rock gardens. The plants only grow to a height of 1 to 3 inches. They can handle light foot traffic and are pretty resilient.

Thymus Praecox / Elfin Thyme is a perennial herb that will grow quickly, forming a deep root system and returning yearly after frost. The plants will flower once or twice per season, usually in late Spring/Early Summer and then again in early Fall. Some companion plants to consider are Alyssum, Rockcress, Verbena Moss, and Creeping Daisy.

Elfin Thyme (Thymus praecox) will produce lilac pink-colored flowers that form in groups and clusters. They can withstand a bit of light foot traffic as well. Elfin Thyme is among the shortest Thyme varieties available, measuring only 1 to 3 inches tall. They spread outward and creep the bare ground, making them a perfect choice for rock gardens and rocky landscaping.

Thyme herbs are grown as perennial flowering plants. They will grow strong in the first season and can later return the following seasons from their deep root structure. All Elfin Thyme seeds packaged by Seed Needs are intended for the current and the following growing seasons. All seeds are stored in a temperature-controlled facility that is free of significant amounts of moisture.

Seed Needs offers generous quantities, allowing you to share with friends and family or save the extra seeds until the following season if properly stored. Each seed packet displays an artful illustration of the variety to be grown, as well as detailed seed sowing information on the reverse side. They measure 3.25" wide by 4.50" tall.

Seed Needs will never knowingly supply GMO-based seed products. The vast majority of their seeds are open-pollinated and heirloom, with the exception of a few hybrids. Seed Needs packets contain some of the freshest seed available, direct from the growers. If sown correctly, you will begin seeing results in only a matter of days. All Thyme seeds are packaged in tear-resistant and moisture-resistant packaging, keeping them a whole lot fresher than the competition's selection.
