Tropical Milkweed - Asclepias Currassavica Seeds - Food and Host Plant for Monarch Butterflies
This Monarch Attracting Milkweed is suitable for growing in All Zones of the United States, both as an Annual and Perennial from Zones 8b and higher. It is an important nectar source for Monarchs and a wide variety of other butterfly species, pollinators, and hummingbirds. The plant prefers full sun to partial shade and is not extremely temperamental about soil types. It blooms all season, transplants well, and is deer and rabbit resistant.
To grow this Monarch Attracting Milkweed, cover the seeds with a ¼" of soil and keep them moist until germination. The plant thrives in full sun to partial shade. It takes 2 generations of Monarchs to migrate in each direction (Canada to Pacific Grove and Mexico), and they need milkweed along their paths.
